We will be hosting an opening reception for our first exhibit of the 2014 season with "Open Interpretations", showcasing the talents of Raymond - Abstract Painter and Gail Elwell - Organic Fiber Art Sculptor on Saturday, April 5, 5-7 pm.

A graduate of the Art Institute of Miami, Raymond enjoyed several decades as a successful sports artist.  Commissioned to print Muhammad Ali, Larry Bird, Michael Joedan, Can Marino and many more, he brought athletic images to life.  More recently, Raymond has dedicated his work to creating abstract pieces that also capture the strength, vitality and movement of the sports legends who had in years past.  Raymond currently lives in Cumberland.

Gail Elwell also finds her inspiration from natural form.  She scavenges raw materials from her garden and wraps them in gut and recycled papier-mache, creating works of remarkable transformation and wistful expressiveness that transcend thrir humble components.  The world of the made and the world of the born are both embraced within her organic process. Gail currently lives in Maryland, teaching art and constantly refining her mixed media technique.

In addition to the opening reception, the exhibit is free and open to the public April 4-27, Fri.-Sun. 1:00-4:00 pm.

2011 May    ::   Christina Collins-Smith

Exploring new ways to see, photography is a paint I use to reconstruct what is often overlooked in the rush of life. My images flow from impressions of moments - intuitively processed, melding in sequences that reflect inner light as they explore layers beneath the obvious, revealing each subject’s complex and delicate beauty with fresh vision and insight.” ~ Christina Collins-Smith  cdcsmith.net
